Mon Laferte Announces, “1940 Carmen”, Second Album In 2021

Chilean singer Mon Laferte, has announced her seventh studio album, 1940 Carmen. The album was officially announced on the musician’s Instagram page, making it the singer’s second album of the year.

The first single, “Algo Es Mejor”, from the album was announced by the same media as the album on September 26th of the same year. The song was released on October 1st along with its official video.

Born Norma Monserrat Bustamante Laferte, the 38-year-old musician is known for her musical versatility, having composed songs in a wide variety of genres such as pop, rock, bolero, cumbia and salsa. She is also currently the Chilean artist with the most listeners on Spotify worldwide, as well as being the Chilean artist with the most nominations in a single edition of the Latin Grammy Awards (5 in 2017).

Mon Laferte is the holder of two MTV awards in 2016 and one in 2017, two seagulls for her participation in the Viña del Mar Festival 2017, nominations for two Latin Grammy Awards 2016 for “Best New Artist” and “Best Album Alternative of the Year.” Two nominations for the MTV EMAs, including “Best New North Artist.” She has been recognized in South America as “Best New Artist of the Latin American New Wave” at the 2016 Shock Awards in Colombia.

Laferte toured in 2017 of 150 presentations around the world with sold-out seats. That same year he released “La Trenza (Deluxe)” and the singles “Amárrame” in duet with Juanes, obtaining the Latin Grammy 2017 for Alternative Song, “Mi Buen Amor” with Bunbury and “Spring”.

In 2018 Norma premiered, recorded at Capitol Records in Los Angeles and produced by Omar Rodriguez Lopez. A concept album about the stages in a relationship. After the releases of “Japanese Landscape”, “Chilango Blues” and “Canción De Mierda”, Mon Laferte surprisingly premieres the protest song “Plata Ta Tá” together with Guaynaa, this being his first foray into urban music.

1940 Carmen is out on October 29, 2021.
